Arising, Establishing, and Expanding the Kingdom in 2012 !!
By Gale Sheehan
2012 will be a year where the Kingdom of God is established in new ways and expanded in others. The number 12 is a number that signifies the government of God. Jesus is the true King of this government. We are pressing forward to the time where “the kingdom of this world shall become the Kingdom of the Lord and of His Christ; and He will reign forever and ever.” There are, however, key events that must yet take place to bring the fulfillment of that promise. Events in the world, in Israel, and in the church are rapidly aligning with this prophesied global occurrence. One of the keys for this 3rd reformation time we are living in is the need for “NIKE” Christians to arise. Let’s look to see who these “NIKES” are and where they are arising from and what they are called to do. A scripture in the Book of Revelation will give us a key.
“And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even to death.”
This scripture is making reference to previous scriptures and also to overcoming Satan who has been cast down to the earth. We are living in a time when we are seeing the darkness in the earth getting darker while at the same time the brightness of the church becoming brighter. It is the hour for the church to arise and shine in the midst of darkness. The Lord spoke to me last year that we were in a time period paralleling the Charles Dickens quote that “It was the best of times and it was the worst of times.” It is interesting that the word for “overcame” in Revelation 12:11 is the Greek word “Nikao” which comes from “Nike” meaning to conquer, prevail, and gain victory. The word “Nike” in our modern culture is one associated with success and victory especially in athletic arenas. It has been made famous by a very successful corporation. An excerpt from a Wagers article states:
The NIKE Corporation has done it for more than 25 years. The “swoosh” mark is as recognizable as the golden arches of McDonalds, or of the peace sign, and nothing symbolizes success better than the symbol that flashes from feet, and clothing around the world.
NIKE made its initial debut at the 1972 Olympic Games on the feet of Steve Prefontaine. Sales skyrocketed and within their 1st year sales hit $2 million. NIKE soared to superstardom status when they got Michael Jordan to endorse his own shoe, the Air Jordan in 1985. NIKE Airs followed, starting an arms race with the other athletic shoe brands in terms of technical wizardry and celebrity endorsement.
In the late 1980′s, NIKE slipped from it #1 position in sports apparel and equipment. Sales were down, morale was low and advertising execs were grasping at any idea that might prove to once again establish the mega-corporation as the leader in sports equipment. In 1988, the idea was found in just 3 simple words: JUST DO IT! And do it they did. The concept promoted the idea that there were no excuses in life anymore, you could do it, and NIKE once again took the lead with a simple slogan of success.
While I do not endorse much of Nike’s political and moral positions, it is very true that they have produced some excellent merchandise and voiced global changing words. These words, “Just Do It” ,however, have existed for a much longer time than during the Nike era. Let’s look to scripture to find an origination that is even much more relevant the Nike ads.
When Jesus became 30 years old He entered in to what scripture refers to as “His ministry.” This began to be the time that He demonstrated many signs, wonders, and miracles. He demonstrated these based upon a man being filled with the Holy Spirit and not as Jesus as the eternal creator. The “Just Do It” concept goes back to the time of His very first miracle recorded in the book of John.
And on the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there; and Jesus also was invited, and His disciples, to the wedding. And when the wine gave out, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.”
And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what do I have to do with you? My hour has not yet come.” His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, Do It.”
When the waiters did as Jesus instructed them they saw a miracle happen. The water was turned into wine in every water pot they had filled with water. This was the very beginning of Jesus’ miracles in the earth. Simply by believing these words “Just Do It” and acting upon them the realm of the natural was superseded by the supernatural.
Today, we need to be the “Nike” Christians arising and “Just Doing It” according to what Jesus tells us to do. When that happens we are going to see a great manifestation of signs, wonders, miracles, and a harvest of souls in the earth today. The “Just Doing It” may be just praying, just prophesying, just laying hands on the sick, just fasting, just forgiving, just speaking His Word, just praying in tongues, just being a 7-Mountain minister, just evangelizing or just anything else He says to do. There is a special end time “NIKE” generation being released to fulfill the 3rd Reformation time we are in and usher in the second coming of Jesus. These “NIKES” will arise and become the overcomers of the last days.
It was interesting that leading into this upcoming year of 2012 the Nike Corporation released a retro “Air Jordan” tennis shoe which caused mayhem in the retail world. It is time for the church to cause mayhem in the Satanic realm. The popular “Mayhem” (to cause violent destruction and chaos) commercials of today can be true of the church’s influence on the kingdom of darkness. We are called to bring mayhem and destroy the works of the evil one just as Jesus stated. The day where “the kingdom of the world has become the Kingdom of the Lord and of His Christ” is rapidly approaching. Are you ready to be a “NIKE” Christian today? They will be ones which have hope and are able to focus on Jesus even in dark days and days of turmoil.
When I was with Bishop Hamon recently, where He was speaking at the 11/11/11 Rose Bowl event, the Lord gave me an impactful weather encounter. I was driving in Los Angeles when there came a strong storm from the East rolling over LA’s mountainous regions. At the same time, I noticed that to the West along the California coast and beaches the sun was shining brightly. The Lord spoke to me and He said “Look for a rainbow.”
I believe that this was the first time where I had ever actually “looked” for a rainbow. All of the times in the past where I saw rainbows, they had just appeared and I noticed them. So this time in the midst of hard rain, lightning, and thunder I began to look for a rainbow. It was very quickly that out of the corner of my eye while driving in 6 lanes of LA traffic I saw a vivid rainbow in the midst of the dark clouds. The Lord spoke to me and said that this generation needs to be a generation that is looking for spiritual “Rainbows” in the midst of the storms of life. The original promise of the rainbow, that we still see thousands of years later, is that God would never destroy the earth with a flood again. He spoke to me that we need to be looking for other types of rainbow promises in the situations that we are in. In the very things that may look like destruction God has His promises of victory for us. His promises are as different from the destruction as the sunshine from the storm and as light from darkness. It is interesting that the very water that brought destruction at the time of the flood is the very water that is needed now, in the sky, in the form of rain, to make a rainbow. Even though for millions the flood meant disaster, for Noah, and the eight chosen for the ark, it was the beginning of a new destiny. What may have seemed like destruction in some situations in your life could be the very beginning of your new destiny in the Lord.
One of the things that I have remembered about rainbows from my elementary scientific school years was that there was a key to remembering the colors. The key to knowing the right order of the colors was the name
Roy G. Biv. If you could remember this name it would give you the sequence Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet. This acronym name proved to be invaluable at test time.
As I was thinking about that acronym, the Lord spoke and gave me another one that relates to spiritual keys to the promises He has for our victories today. This spiritual Roy G. Biv acronym is this:
This means that for every giant of warfare in your life the Lord has a “Rainbow like Promise” for your victory. Even when it seems that the storm is raging and darkness is increasing we are to look for the spiritual rainbows He has for us. I don’t know about you but for me that means there are some significant battles that I need to look for a rainbow from the Lord. This could be a scripture, a prophetic word, a prayer, or anything else that confirms the Lord’s victory in the situation. With the promise will be the key for the victory. As He said with the original rainbow, His promise will be for as long as the earth exists. The promise for your victories are also everlasting and even though you may feel as though some battles over these last few years may have been lost, the war is not over. We will be the victorious overcoming “NIKE” generation looking for the “Rainbows” of the Lord in 2012. May you be one of the “NIKE” Christians arising to establish and expand the “Kingdom” of the Lord in this strategic time of the 3rd Reformation Church. It is time to conquer, prevail, and gain the “NIKE” victories the Lord has for you. The times spoken of in the Book of Revelation are here and God’s promise of Jesus returning and a victorious church arising is now.
